OWH VCMP: All Creatures Great and Small

Hello and welcome to Operation Write Home's VCMP. I am honored & please to be your hostess for this portion of the party. My theme is 'All Creatures Great and Small; Cards for Kids!' I love making cards for children and thought that you would like this challenge as well. I usualy use my Cricut and CAC carts, but I have started to move into digis I can make and color in PSP. I have made many critter cards the past month, but for this I chose to honor our very own Ciara! My Bear is SO in love, but a coast to coast romance isn't feasible. So, your challenge is to make a card that features a critter of some sort. Puppies, birds, turtles, aliens (well they ARE 'creatures"..lol, jk.), etc. I think whether they are cartoonish or realistic, stamped or digi, they will all be great! Don't have a critter? No worries. Leave a request with your email address in a comment on this post OR Email me. and I will send you 'baby Ciara'.(must be used for this challenge) It will be sent quick since I will be here all weekend! *(You will have to re-size her from the original, unless you request me to size her for you.)*
Recipe;
Base - 5.50 x 4.25
Layer 1 - 5.25 x 4
Layer 3 - 4.50 x 3.25
Strip 1 - 5.25 x 1.50
Strip 2 - 5.25 x 1.25
Baby Ciara is about 2.25 x 3 and matted 2x in 1/4" increments, except top & bottom.
Popped up on Sandy's 'precious'
Glossy Accent on tongue.
All corners rounded.

~I am sorry I am unable to tell you about the DP. It was in a box of RAK and I LOVE it. (only one sheet...:( All the bones, paws and OWH safe glitter embedded in the paper. I also used a couple of tutorials found at Operation Write Home, so I was able to use all the papers with very little waste!
I am SO excited to see what you come up with for 'All Creatures Great and Small!' So y'all hurry back & Please be sure to add a direct link to your project in the linky doobie below!

~~**Candy Alert**~~
3 winners (USA only) will be chosen to win a small prize package. 1 from the comments (about my cards, not digi request) and 2 from the linky's!
Being a follower is nice, but not required. But you will earn a second chance to win if you are.
~Oh & here is a sneak peek at my next project!
It is a Shaped card using Create a Critter. Inside, both sides are lined with white and it is an A2 size card!

I appreciate those who use every last drop of design paper. I get the Simon Says Stamp Card Kits and get about 20 cards out of them for 19.95. Great buy. Thanks for the cute inspiration.

Misty. Great group of cards. Can baby Ciara be used after the party for other cards? I unstand that she must be used for this challenge if she is requested. I would like to use her lough855ataoldotcom. Tfs!

Baby Ciara is SO cute. Your cards are great, any kid would be happy to receive one of those cards. I would love to have her, however, I cannot link up my cards to the web so I wouldn't be able to show a completed card. Maybe someday I will figure it out. Anyway, great cards !

Great challenge idea...and I love card and your baby Ciara digi (but don't need her). I bought the Ciara stamp from Stampers Best eons ago, but have yet to ink her up. Your challenge will be a perfect way for me to use her AND create an any hero card today! Can't wait to get to it.

This is a fun challenge! I like all 3 of the cards and how each one used different paper and none of them overpower the image. Great job!

Thanks for hosting this fun challenge! I love making kids cards using my Cricut and the critter cards are my favorite. Have not jumped into the world of digits yet, but your baby Ciara is so cute!

What a great challenge this one is going to be! I think I have the perfect digi stamp to go with a new stamp hubby gave me recently. (Isn't he just the best?)

I can already see how my day is going to go.. make a card. snap a photo of it, post it on my blog and link to it. Clean up the mess I made and lather rinse and repeat! LOL this is the first VCMP I have been able to participate in and I'm having one heck of a blast!!

Have fun everyone! See you at the end of the weekend for cupcakes and punch.. what? there's no cupcakes and punch at the end...sigh my thighs didn't need them anyway.

What a fun challenge -- your little baby Ciara is so adorable -- all three of your cards will be so loved by their recipient. I like how you layered for interest and texture. The DP is perfect too. Thanks for hosting this challenge.

Misty, Like the way you did the three different ways you did the card. Create a critter cartridge is one of my favorite to use for kids cards.

Two darling critter cards! Love your coloring and layouts. I am a follower. Thanks for the fun challenge!

Amelia Andrade said...

Very nice critter cards. I love the look of the first card with the puppy centered. The layering makes the puppy look like it's surrounded by brackets. The complementary colored papers really makes this card pleasant to the eye. Thanks for challenging us today.

Sandi said...

Love your critter cards! I especially like the bone paper in the first one!!! Cute digi!
